Erica Strauss Designer Jewellery Studio is a small independent studio committed to jewellery as a creative industry and to contemporary jewellery as a movement to tell a story, convey a message or to make a statement. The studio conceptualizes, designs and handcrafts contemporary and commissioned jewellery pieces. ESDJ’s strive for excellence and value, not only lies in exquisite gems, enamels and precious or semi-precious metals but in the craftsmanship of traditional goldsmithing techniques. The underlying preciousness of jewellery, for Erica, lies in the creative expression of the individual, whether it be that of the jeweler or the wearer who commissions and invests in a piece of handcrafted jewellery.

Erica graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree (Jewellery Design) and established a studio after working in the trade at the bench and as a designer.
